São Paulo, April 14, 2022 – V.tal, the first end-to-end neutral network company in the Brazilian market with the largest fiber optic infrastructure, presents to the market two new products aimed at mobile operators and companies that own mobile phone towers. The new solutions come to meet the deployment and expansion of the new 5G technology in the country as well as the current market demands.

FTTTower (fiber to the tower) will connect cell phone towers and antennas between a location to the Points of Presence (PoPs) of operators in that area, through V.tal’s fiber optic backhaul in the same municipality. FTTCity (acronym for “fiber to the city”) will make connectivity between locations and Points of Presence (POPs) that are in other municipalities, inter or intra-state; in this case, using portions of its backbone and the entire fiber network available and required for this connection.

These new products will be installed based on the demand of each customer, who can acquire connectivity with network redundancy and will be available both in locations with fiber already passed by V.tal, and in those where cabling is required.

With a network of about 400,000 km of optical fiber in 2,300 cities throughout the country, V.tal will play an essential and strategic role in accelerating the deployment of 5G in the country. “The capillarity, robustness and quality of our network will be critical for 5G to happen. We are already in negotiations with some companies and with pilots of the two new solutions running practically in all regions of Brazil,” says Pedro Arakawa, CCO of V.tal.

5G technology is accompanied by a high demand for high-speed data flows, which in turn requires the support of a robust fiber-optic network to sustain traffic. In addition, the new technology will require 5 to 10 times more antennas from national operators that will need a fiber optic infrastructure to connect these antennas. Currently, V.tal already connects about 20% of all the more than 96,000 antennas in the whole country in activity according to Anatel data from December 2021.
